No Exit

by Jean-Paul Sartre | directed by Kerry Kawai | Kings Arms : 12-14 July 2017

Out of Kilter Theatre presents a new adaptation of the classic Sartre play ‘No Exit’ (Huis Clos), first performed in 1944.

The new production is part of GM Fringe and will be performed in the suitably oppressive and atmospheric space of the Kings Arms vaults; a perfect venue for this stark, edgy drama underpinned by a subtle menace and dark humour.

Things of Darkness

by Mark Murphy | directed by Kerry Kawai | Hope Mill Theatre : 13-14 July 2016

(part of the GM Fringe Festival)
(Shortlisted for Best New Writing – GM Fringe Awards 2016)

Once upon a time there was a soldier, home from the war; he has returned yet he feels disconnected, as if he doesn’t belong and so he chooses to sit alone, in silence, waiting. Then, one day, a faery falls into his room. She wants to take him with her, into the other place; she wants to put him back together …

‘Things of Darkness’ is our debut production.

It is a fable for our time about the shadows that are around and within us; the things we don’t want to know about and that we try to ignore or forget, even if we bear some responsibility for them. It is a dark tale about a soldier and a faery, each lost in their own world, and their journey into a place of strange and unsettling encounters that leads, ultimately, to sadness but also the beginning of a return to the light.
